Mark 8:34-37
34 Then he called his disciples and the crowds to come over and listen. “If any of you wants to be my follower,” he told them “you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. 35 If you try to keep your life for yourself. you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life. 36 And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? 37 Is anything worth more than your soul? 38 If a person is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, I, the Son of Man, will be ashamed of that person when I return in the glory of my Father with the holy angels.”
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

We should be willing to give up our life for the sake of the Good News of Christ, not because our life is useless but because nothing can compare to what we gain with Christ. Jesus wants us to chose to follow Him rather than to lead a life of sin. He wants us to stop trying to control our own destiny and let Him direct us. Only God knows better than we do what real life is about. We can trust Him to lead and direct us because He is God. He asks for submission, He asks us only to deny our self-centered will. We surrender our mind, will and emotions to Jesus Christ.  It is getting up everyday and asking Jesus, “What are we going to do today?” Whatever we gain on earth will only be temporary and it can not be exchanged for your soul. Spending your time pursuing possession, position and power is ultimately worthless. It only brings temporary pleasure in this life. Christ gives us the choice, reject or submit to Him now and when He comes again, He will reject or accept us then depending on what we decide today. Are you willing to make Christ your center now? Or do the cares of this world mean more to you? You decide and He will respond accordingly to your choice.

Have a God Day!
