Philippians 2:12-16
12 Dearest friends, you were always so careful to follow my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away you must be even more careful to put into action God’s saving work in your lives, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him. 14 In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of crooked and perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before them. 16 Hold tightly to the word of life, so that when Christ returns, I will be proud that I did not lose the race and that my work was not useless.

God is working within us to give us the desire to obey Him.  This can be very comforting in those times when we feel so disconnected from God.  After the decision to follow Christ is made, then we need to know how to follow Him.  The desire to obey God is only in staying connected to Him as described in John 15.  Christ is the vine and we are the branches.  We stay connected to Him by knowing Him through His Word and spending time with Him in prayer.  Once we promise to follow Christ, and we know how, now we have a responsibility to do it.  It is more than just knowing, it is doing. God has promised He would give us not only the desire but the power to do so. We take the first step and move forward in faith and God fills in all the gaps and gives us power to do His will because we are connected to the Vine.  So we can live clean innocent lives in a world of darkness without fear.  Do not be discouraged because of what you see happening all around you, but move forward for your King because He has given the power to do so.

Have a God Day!
