John 8:1-11

Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives, 2 but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. 3 As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and Pharisees brought a woman they had caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. 4 “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” 6 They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. 7 They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, ‘All right, stone her. But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!” 8 Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. 9 When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” 11 “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Have you left your sin and heard the Savior say, “Go and sin no more.”? If not, you were not listening. The Word is very clear about identifying our sin. But more important than identifying sin, is to identify the sin in your own life. Once sin is revealed in your heart, God wants you to turn from it and to “go and sin no more.” Sometimes, the sin returns, but this is only because you have left the source of Light. Sin can not live in the Light of God’s love. Nor do you want to continue in sin once you experienced the love of Christ. So examine your life and see if there are any sins that keep coming back once you have left them. If so, examine your walk with Christ. If the sin keeps coming back, you need to be more plugged into the Light. Only when Christ reigns in your heart and mind will you have victory over sin. Christ gave this answer to the woman caught in adultery, but the message is for you and me today. No one can accuse of us of sin because the power over sin was given to us when we accepted His death on the cross. So use the power given to you and move from your sin and live in the Light of God’s love.

Have a God Day!
