12 Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 You must make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Paul tells us the attributes of being a child of God are something we pick up and place on ourselves. Being like Christ is a choice we make every morning when we get up. Like we would pick up a coat and cover ourselves, we are to put on Christ. This is not in our nature. It is not what we naturally do. Only with Christ in our hearts can we truly be holy people. To be holy means to be set aside for a purpose. Our purpose is be like Christ and forgive those who have sinned against us. The key to forgiveness is to remember how much God has forgiven you. Realizing God’s infinite love and forgiveness can help us love and forgive others. Make the choice to put on the garment of Christ and extend to others what He has so freely given to you.
Have a God Day!
