John 6:61-65
61 Jesus knew within himself that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what will you think if you see me, the Son of Man, return to heaven again? 63 It is the Spirit who gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But some of you don’t believe me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.) 65 Then he said, “That is what I meant when I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father brings them to me.”

Jesus had been teaching the people that they must eat His flesh and drink His blood to live forever. This thought was repulsive to the Jews. Many turned away from Him at this point. But Christ was teaching them that to eat living bread means to accept Christ as God and accept Him into our lives and become one with Him. Jesus was not talking about literally eating His flesh, He was saying His life had to become their own. He went on to teach that the Holy Spirit gives this new life. Without the work of God in our lives, no one would be saved. When someone comes to believe in Jesus Christ as Savior, they do so only in response to the urging of God’s Holy Spirit. God does the urging; then we decide whether or not to believe. We can not even see our own need for Him without His urging. All spiritual life begins and ends with God. He reveals truth to us, lives in us and then enables us to respond to that truth. All we can do is say yes or no. And the Spirit draws all people to Himself. There is no one who is not loved by God or called to Him. Christ came to save all people. But many will say no. What have you said to Him today? Are you ready to become one with Him and eat of His flesh and drink His blood? Don’t turn the Spirit away accept His love and receive Him into your heart today.

Have a God Day!
