1 Peter 1:17-21 17
And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites when he judges. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time as foreigners here on earth. 18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 20 God chose him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, he was sent to the earth for all to see. And he did this for you.  21 Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And because God raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory, your faith and hope can be placed confidently in God.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Because God is judge of all the earth, we dare not ignore Him or treat Him casually. It is understanding His immeasurable love for us and the grace given to us by the sacrifice of Christ that drives us to reverent fear of Him.  And it is not our human understanding of fear, but a fear that He could have just let us die in our sins. But He didn’t. He ransomed us with His Blood, and we are to be ever grateful to Him.  Christ’s sacrifice for our sins was not an afterthought.  The plan was set in motion by the all-knowing God long before the world began. He desires and wants to be in communion with us because we love Him, not because we fear Him.  What a comfort for those who accept this love because we know that He has always had and will always have everything under control.  We can confidently place our trust in Him, as we respect Him for who He is. We may not always understand we can know His love. As we walk through eternity with Him, He will be the only one there with any imperfections, the scars. Christ will carry the scars from Calvary for eternity and every time we see Him, we will see the scars and know how much He love us to sacrifice His own Son to have us with Him.  Only Jesus Christ is worthy of our praise!

Genesis 2:4-9
When the Lord God made the heavens and the earth, 5 there were no plants or grain growing on the earth, for the Lord God had not sent any rain. And no one was there to cultivate the soil. 6 But water came up out of the ground and watered all the land. 7 And the Lord God formed a man’s body from the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And the man became a living person.  8 Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he placed the man he had created. 9 And the Lord God planted all sorts of trees in the garden beautiful trees that produced delicious fruit. At the center of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

As we move further into the 21st century, we are going to see more advancements in science and medicine. And if we look back over the 20th century, we will see more advances in technology, science and medicine than in all pervious centuries combined. Knowledge is advancing exponentially. And it will not be long before we see things we never thought possible.  Man is manipulating what God created for his own purposes.  They can now produce a clone of an animal out of a skin cell of that animal. But life is sacred to God and only He can created it, man can only manipulate it. And only as long as God allows. The very breath of God is in us and we are created in His image.  No matter how much man tries to change or deny this, it will never change. I do not believe that God will allow man to create human life through cloning. The stench of man’s sin will soon reach heaven and God will say enough.  Romans 1:22 states it best, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became utter fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man.” We are created in the image of our Father and His very breath is in us.  No matter how hard man tries to change this, it will never be accomplished. Stay true to the knowledge of His Word. Plant it deep in your heart and water it with time in prayer.  And you remain in this world but not a part of it.

Have a God Day!

James 1:19-27 19
My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Your anger can never make things right in God’s sight. 21 So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the message God has planted in your hearts, for it is strong enough to save your souls. 22 And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. If you don’t obey, you are only fooling yourself. 23 For if you just listen and don’t obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law the law that sets you free and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. 26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are just fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. 27 Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Paul emphasizes the purpose of faith is to bring salvation and James emphasizes the results of faith are a changed life.  We are not saved by works but we are saved for works. We can measure the effectiveness of how well we understand who we are in Christ and God’s love for us by the effect this knowledge has on our attitude and behavior. Because we are freed from sin, we can do whatever we desire. And if we are freed from sin, and understand that God’s love and grace is completely without our merit, and then we will desire to do the will of God. We are free to live as God intended for us from the beginning. We live and move and have our being because of God’s Spirit in us. We desire to please Him and therefore we control the aspects of our sinful nature that are contrary to the Word of God and He will bless us for it.  It is not us but God in us that set our spirit free to choose to have our mind think positive and our will to have a positive attitude and emotions to behave according the Word. We care for others as God cares for them and we are not corrupted by the world. This is faith in action, this is Christ in us. Guard your soul (mind, will and emotions) and your attitude and actions will not be controlled by your sinful nature but be controlled by the Holy Spirit in you.

Have a God Day!
