Hebrews 1:1-4
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God’s throne in heaven. 3 Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don’t become weary and give up. 4 After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.

What are the obstacles in your life that are preventing you from being all that God intended?  What distractions are keeping you too busy so you have no time to read His Word or to spend time in prayer?  If the devil cannot make you sin, he will keep you busy.  But the truth is that nothing should stand between you and Jesus Christ.  If you find yourself unable to answer these questions this morning, than you are too busy and Christ is on the back burner of your life.  If you say you love Him then feed on Him through His Word and time with Him.  How would your spouse feel if you kept telling them you loved them, but never talked to them or spent any time with them?  You would soon find yourself alone.  Why would you think your relationship with Christ would any different?  You cannot know Him if you do not spend time with Him.  Don’t let the distractions of life keep you from what is truly important.  A lot of things are not necessarily wrong, but they are just not necessary. 2 Timothy 2:4 warns us, “And as Christ’s soldier, do not let yourself become tied up in the affairs of this life, for then you cannot satisfy the one who has enlisted you in his army.”  Take time today to examine your life with Christ and ask Him to show you what distractions are keeping you from becoming more like Him.  Maybe you need to say, “no” more to all the busyness or maybe you are in too much debt and that is taking all of your time and energy.  Matthew 11:28 states, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.”  Whatever is keeping you from Him remove it and make Him your priority in all that you do.  Only with Christ driving the bus of your life will you find joy and peace.
