1 Timothy 2:1-8
First of all, I ask you to pray for everyone. Ask God to help and bless them all, and tell God how thankful you are for each of them. 2 Pray for kings and others in power, so that we may live quiet and peaceful lives as we worship and honor God. 3 This kind of prayer is good, and it pleases God our Savior. 4 God wants everyone to be saved and to know the whole truth, which is, 5 There is only one God, and Christ Jesus is the only one who can bring us to God. Jesus was truly human, and he gave himself to rescue all of us. 6 God showed us this at the right time. 7 This is why God chose me to be a preacher and an apostle of the good news. I am telling the truth. I am not lying. God sent me to teach the Gentiles about faith and truth. 8 I want everyone everywhere to lift innocent hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with each other.

Paul knew the importance of prayer. He was continually connected to Christ. And God used him greatly as one of the writers of the New Testament, I am glad Paul was willing to be used by God in such a tremendous way. But this did not come without time in prayer to the Lord. God is speaking to all of us through Paul and telling us that we are to pray for all people and for those in authority over us. As we grow closer to Christ and know more of what His will for us is, we will find we are all to be “preachers” of His Word. Salvation is for all and we are the light of Christ in the world at this time and His will is for all to hear the Word and be saved. Prayer is the fuel that keeps us focused on His goal for us. When Jesus walked on this earth, He was the Light of the world and He passed that torch onto us. We are to fulfill His will in this world. This realization comes through prayer. When we plug into Christ through prayer, the Holy Spirit reveals His will to us. A lamp cannot light a dark room without being plugged into an electrical socket and turned on. We cannot light our world with the love of Christ without being “plugged” into Him by prayer. We are “turned on” by the power of the Holy Spirit that comes to us through prayer. Get plugged in and turned on and light your world.

Have a God Day!
