Romans 7:18-25, 8:1,2
18 I know I am rotten through and through so far as my oId sinful nature is concerned. No matter which way I turn, I can’t make myself do right. I want to, but I can’t. 19 When I want to do good, I don’t. And when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway. 20 But if I am doing what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing it; the sin within me is doing it.2l It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another law at work within me that is at war with my mind. This law wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 For the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you through Christ Jesus from the power of sin that leads to death.

When we commit our lives to serving Jesus Christ, the expression of our new character is not being good, but being recreated in His image and His likeness. If the Spirit of God has transformed you by the renewing of your mind, then your behavior will exhibit Christ. If this is not happening for you, then you need to look at how much of your mind is controlled by your old sinful self, of which you have no control. Your lust has control. If your lusts are in control of you, then Christ is not in the thing that you do or what you desire to do. You can not try to be Godly, you will fail. You must surrender that lust to Him on a continual basis until He is control. Is that easy, not when you have given control to that lust in your life. You must fight to take it back, but not with human weapons, with spiritual weapons. Fight as Christ did when Satan came to tempt Him with power and food. “It is written!” Speak the truth over your lust and lay it before Christ each time it comes to you. You may have to do this many, many times, but you will have victory over it, Christ has promised this. It will be with His power and not yours, because you have none. Give it over to Him today and start the battle to become Christ to the world around you.

Have a God Day!
