Colossians 2:6-10
6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in obedience to him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done. 8 Don’t let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ. 9 For in Christ the fullness of God lives in a human body, 10 and you are complete through your union with Christ. He is the Lord over every ruler and authority in the universe.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Many Christians are slowed in their spiritual growth because of lack of wisdom. We should not let anyone lead us astray with false doctrine. But if we do not know God’s Word, we may be lead easily away from Christ. Be aware that there are many erroneous religious traditions that are contrary to Christ. Just because they have been done for thousands of years, doe not make them right in the eyes of God. We need to know the source, and test it to see if it contradicts scripture. Everything should be tested against the Word of God and if it does not line up with the Word, proceed with caution. We should be diligent in Bible study and practice scripture memorization and then meditate on the Word. This will let the Sprit of God penetrate your mind and fill you with His wisdom. Become a person of prayer. Reject and refuse any unrighteousness in your life. Once the Word is imbedded in your mind, you will have a better understanding of What Would Jesus Do. WWJD.

Matthew 5:13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 You are the light of the world-like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. 15 Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Luke 8:16-18
16 “No one would light a lamp and then cover it up or put it under a bed. No, lamps are mounted in the open, where they can be seen by those entering the house. 17 For everything that is hidden or secret will eventually be brought to light and made plain to all. 18 So be sure to pay attention to what you hear. To those who are open to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But to those who are not listening, even what they think they have will be taken away from them.”
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Jesus told us after He left, that we would be the light of the world, and that we would be the salt of the earth. We are Jesus Christ in the flesh to all of our world. When we tell others about our faith, they are seeing Christ in you. To fully understand how much God loves us is our mission. We are to do only what we saw Jesus doing and He did only what He saw the Father doing. We are to align our will with His and receive understanding from His Word. When we say, “Yes” to God, we will receive more of Him. We will receive more understanding of His Word, and more understanding of His love for us. When we are enveloped in His love, the world cannot harm us, we are safe in His arms and know, “That we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!”

Romans 8:31
31 What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? Will Christ Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us. 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death? 36 (Even the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day: we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. 39 Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

The Word of God illuminated by the Holy Spirit is the only true means of transforming a human heart. Our minds are renewed by this transformation. The love of God penetrates every fiber of our being and we are transformed. While this transformation is a continual process, we continue on to the goal, because we know, “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” There is no one to accuse us and there is not one thing that can separate us from God’s love. This is the scripture to use as a sword against the enemy when he comes at you with discouragement. Pick up your sword and fight. Speak this verse out loud and repeat it to yourself over and over until you feel the power of the Holy Spirit covering you with the love of God. Yes, you will need to keep it handy and use it a lot. Satan does not give up on us and will keep trying to tell you that God does not love you. But don’t believe his lies. He is the father of all lies. But you have the Light of the World living within you and Satan has no power over you. Period!

Hebrews 12:1-4
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God’s throne in heaven. 3 Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don’t become weary and give up. 4 After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for our sin, we begin our race in this world toward the prize of heaven. Even though we are assured we gain the prize, the Devil tries to pull us off track and down his path of destruction. And we also have our own evil desires to content with. It seems that everything around us would try and pull us away from the One true source of truth. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we trip and fall, but the key is getting back up and to keep on moving down the path that God has set before us. Sometimes, God will show us very clearly when we are being tempted and pulled from His truth. When we know God’s truth and we are tempted to put it aside and say this one does not apply to me in this situation, it will always lead to more pain and struggle for us. We need to trust that God will make a way of escape. As stated in, 1 Corinthians 10: 13, “But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.” We must set aside everything that prevents us from running the race God has set before us. This includes sin that He has revealed in your life. Whenever you are tempted, it is always with sin. God will make a way. Trust Him with all of your heart, soul and mind!

Merry Christmas!

At this blessed time of the year, let us not forget why we celebrate.  It is because Jesus Christ came to earth, born through the virgin Mary, that we can know him.  It is only because of His great love for us that we can be righteous in His sight.  And it is because He came that we will be with Him when we leave this world.

Praise the name of Jesus forever!

1 John 5:18-21
18 We know that those who have become part of God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot get his hands on them. 19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the power and control of the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we are in God because we are in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life. 21 Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

John presents a clear picture of Christ. What we think about Jesus Christ is central to our teaching, preaching, and living. Jesus is the God-man, fully God and fully human at the same time. He came to earth to die in our place for our sins.  Through faith in Him, we are given eternal life and the power to do His will.  What is your answer to the most important question you could ever ask: Who is Jesus Christ?  Your answer will determine where you spend eternity.  It will determine how you live in this world.  Your answer will speak about what you are really made of and who you really are.  Are you Christ’s or are you of this world?

Have a Jesus Christmas!

Proverbs 3:24-26
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.
The Holy Bible, New King James Version, (Nashville, Tennessee: Thomas Nelson, Inc.) 1982.

1 John 5:14-15
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
The Holy Bible, New King James Version, (Nashville, Tennessee: Thomas Nelson, Inc.) 1982.

The word confidence comes from two words: con, which means “with,” and faido, which means “faith.” The word confidence means living with faith. So when we live with confidence, it allows us to take advantage of opportunities and live an effective Christian life. Faith is important for successful Christian living. So how do we keep “running the race” and live with confidence when Satan is coming after us like a roaring lion? How do we press on and become the person Christ knows we can be in His power? First we trust the Word of God. Even though we don’t “feel” it, we believe with our heads, because He is our God. We repeat the Word over and over in our minds and repeat it out loud especially when we are discouraged or face difficult circumstances. And we never quit! It’s not who starts the race, but who finishes. So keep on believing, keep on reading, and keep on talking to God. Endure to the end. The answer to your prayer is just around the corner, don’t give up! Stop making excuses. “I’m too busy”, I’m too tired, and I don’t ‘feeeeel’ like it!” Everything around you will try and prevent you from moving forward for God, everything in this world is against you growing more spiritually sound, but remember 1 John 4:4, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” You can have confidence in Him!

Timothy 4:1-5
1 And so I solemnly urge you before God and before Christ Jesus-who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: 2 Preach the word of God. Be persistent, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and follow strange myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at bringing others to Christ. Complete the ministry God has given you
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

If we only did what we feel like doing, some of us would never do anything. The proof that we are rightly connected to Him is that we do His best whether we feel like doing it or not. None of us has any responsibility to work for our Lord, our responsibility is to stay constantly connected to Him. Once we are connected to Him, we see Him working all around us. All we need to do is join Him. When the coworker comes to you with a need or you find yourself always the one friends call for help, God is showing you where He is working and all you need to do is join in and help Him. We do this by being an example, by prayer and by telling others of His love. Not always easy to do, but with the Holy Spirit working through us, we move forward on His power and not ours. Be persistent, be patient, be encouraging but be something!

Have a God Day!

Hebrews13:8, &21-22
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
20-21 And now, may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, all that is pleasing to him. Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep by an everlasting covenant, signed with his blood. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

James 5:14-16
14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

What is the miracle you need today? Most of us are in need of a miracle from time to time. Jesus healed the blind, the lame and the lepers. He raised a dead boy back to life and called Lazarus from his tomb. Jesus feed 5000 people with one loaf of bread and a few small fishes. If Jesus truly is the same today as He was yesterday, then why are we not seeing more miracles today? Part of the problem is our unbelief. We do not pick up what we have been equipped with by God our Father. The power of the Word buried in our hearts and minds will produce a faith beyond human comprehension. If you are in need of healing today, pick up your sword provided for you in James and go before the elders of the church and be prayed over and anointed with oil. If you have done all of this then sit back and trust God for what He has for you in this world. Give it completely over to Him for His will to be done, believe that He can heal you completely, but trust Him without wavering. And keep in mind what is waiting for all who trust in the saving Grace of Jesus Christ as stated in Hebrews 13:14, “For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city in heaven, which is yet to come.”

Philippians 1:20-24
20 For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame, but that I will always be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past, and that my life will always honor Christ, whether I live or I die. 21 For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better. 22 Yet if I live, that means fruitful service for Christ. I really don’t know which is better. 23 I’m torn between two desires: Sometimes I want to live, and sometimes I long to go and be with Christ. That would be far better for me, 24 but it is better for you that I live.
Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Because Jesus Christ went to Hell and took the keys of Death and Hades from Satan, we no longer have to fear death. It has no victory over us. For the Christian to die is to be with Christ and to live is service for Christ. Are you like Paul and torn between which of the two is better? No, we do not want to leave our family and friends. I do not want to leave until the work set before me for Christ is completed. But there is no fear because I know Who holds tomorrow and I know Who holds my future and my trust is in Him completely. What greater peace, what greater joy can we experience here on this earth? Do not let the enemy hold this fear over you, he is trying to discourage you and pull you away from God. He will try and fill your heart and mind with fear of sickness or fear of death, but remember Who holds the keys and put your trust in Him. We will all eventually get sick and die or die by some other means.  No one will live forever in these human bodies.  But remember when we do get sick or even if we die, we are safe in His arms. Do not fear sickness and death.  If you belong to Christ Jesus, He will be with you through anything you have to face and His love will carry through.

Have a God Day!
