2 Peter 1:5-10
So make every effort to apply the benefits of these promises to your life. Then your faith will produce a
life of moral excellence. A life of moral excellence leads to knowing God better. Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness. Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop these virtues are blind or, at least, very shortsighted. They have already forgotten that God has cleansed them from their old life of sin. So, dear friends, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen.

We are saved by faith and not by works, but once we are saved, God gives us tools to do His work in this world. As we do His work, we become more like Him. And what we do with these tools is what we will be examined on, when we stand before Him. This judgment will not be about sin, we will be in heaven and redeemed, but He will look at what we did after our salvation and what did we do for Him with the gifts and tools He gave us. It is difficult to remember that we cannot do what God does, and that God will not do what we can do for ourselves. God will not give us good habits, but He does give us the instructions to develop them. He will not make us walk holy before Him, but He does give us direction on how we can. We have to do all of that for ourselves. We have to work out our salvation and apply the tools He has given us. Once we apply the benefits of His promises, we operate in the power of the Holy Spirit. But we must take the first step and believe His Word is true. If we will, then He will. Every promise of God starts with us. We start with salvation, but that is only the start. Then we apply faith to produce moral excellence, to produce knowledge of God, to produce self-control, to produce endurance, to produce love. Start applying God’s promises and see His power manifested in your walk for Him!

Have a God Day!
